We get it, dearest Chinese graduates, we get it. The year of the horse scowls down on your boring graduation photos and the time has come to mix it up.
A couple of weeks ago we saw Chinese graduates put the latest memes to shame with movie-inspired graduation photos. A new trend sees girls dressing up in wedding dresses for their graduation day photos.
The girls generally agree that the wedding dresses make them feel beautiful and that the special day should be commemorated in an even more special way. Twenty-two-year-old graduate Hu Fan explained to the Wall Street Journal that the color white inspired her choice of wedding attire for her graduation photos: "The feeling of wearing white is very elegant, like a nymph”.
We don’t know if the fad will catch on outside the mainland, but given the fact these graduates are waving off a decade dedicated to good marks on the ridiculously competitive gaokao exam, we feel perhaps the graduation photos do merit dresses conventionally reserved for the happiest day of your life
